LED lighting technology has advanced greatly in recent years. Today, the industry can put LED lighting on 90% of all current lighting devices: lighting for homes, offices, traffic lights, headlights, mobile phone flashes… and even Landscape Lighting. Thanks to its small size, ability to generate light, and the range of colors that can be generated, LEDs are increasingly used. Further, with respect to traditional incandescent or fluorescent lighting lamps, LED’s have several advantages that make them very interesting as substitutes for conventional lighting.

LED lighting consumes 80-90% less electricity than older bulbs with similar characteristics. This means a 90% savings in electricity bills. With LED lamps a higher luminous efficiency is achieved, reaching 130-150 lumens per watt in the most efficient bulbs, and 80 lumens per watt in the most popular. They consume 2.5 times less than a conventional bulb and 8.9 times less than an incandescent bulb over its lifetime, this leads to impressive savings that can reach 90% on the lighting costs, and a quick return on investment.

Landscape Lighting LED bulbs have no filament or other mechanical parts that are easily broken. There is a point at which they cease to function, of course, but its degradation is gradual throughout its life. The average life of an LED lamp is around 45,000 hours, much greater than the 2000 hours that a standard bulb offers. The figure jumps to the naked eye – with an LED bulb a person can have five years of continuous light, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; compared to 83 days of the standard bulb. The long life of LED products eliminates the need for regular maintenance, reducing maintenance and replacement costs.

Using low power consumption, LED bulbs used for landscaping emit very little heat. It is called cold light. The on and off of the LED bulbs is very fast, unlike other systems is not degraded by the number of ignitions; which makes them very useful in systems off and on motion detection. LED lights are greener. Normal bulbs contain tungsten and fluorescent mercury, both of which are toxic products. LEDs are recyclable and comply with federal regulations.
