Check Tires before Leaving
Just because the tires look fine does not mean they have enough air. This is especially important if you have commercial hydraulic trailers and more than one vessel to pick up in one day. You never know when a tire can pick up something on the road and get a slow leak. If tires are low on air, they can wear out prematurely and possibly leave you stranded.
Safety Chains
Safety chains are an important consideration no matter how large or small the vessel is. Safety chains keep the vessel connected to the towing vehicle, in case of hitch failure. If a trailer gets loose, it is a moving missile and can cause an enormous amount of damage to other vehicles on the road.
Check All Lights
A tail light or turn signal can burn out without notice. This is why you should check all the lights every day. Make sure the brake lights are working because you could end up in a serious accident without brake lights. Also, check to see if any connecting harnesses are loose.
