Do You Really Need BUIS On Your Rifle?

The vast majority of shooters today, from hunters through to those who just enjoy spending time at the shooting range, use some form of optics. It could be a red dot system that offers high power and variable distances to a holographic sight or even a traditional scope.

With all these modern options, it is hard for many shooters and gun owners to image the need for a BUIS. However, having backup iron sights on your weapon can turn a potentially wasted day into an ideal way to still enjoy target practice or a trip to your favorite hunting location even if those high-tech systems fail.

Batteries and Damage

One of the big issues with the new types of high tech optics is the risk of the batteries failing. This can happen due to bad batteries, long periods of storage or even the batteries being exposed to high heat at some point in time. There is also the issue of battery life, with most shooters not paying close attention to the last time they were changed.

Scopes and optics of any kind can also be damaged in the field. While this isn’t common, guns can be dropped; scopes can catch on something or end up being damaged in transit to your destination.

Having a set of BUIS on your rifle will save the day. With different options and styles, they will even add to the look of your weapon without interfering with the use of the optics.

Options to Consider

For any type of rifle with any type of traditional scope or high-tech optic, flip up sights are a great option. These mount permanently and need to be calibrated once and then they can be simply flipped down and out of sight, allowing for unimpeded use of the scope.
