There are a few main types of bathroom design styles. Choose the right one for your style and home.
Three Main Styles
Traditional bathrooms are three main types: Edwardian, Victorian and Country. You have to be sure to match the right type of house with the right type of bathroom, so if you live in a modern house you probably would not want to go to a traditional bathroom. The bathtub or shower is always the entire main attraction of a traditional bathroom. Freestanding tubs are usually what goes well with this type of style. The floors are often polished, and the room is usually decorated and soft tones, including browns, and greens. Be sure it’s very well-lit, consider going with a chandelier. The country is a subset of this design. It usually has wallpaper, a vanity with a frill, and a deep cast iron tub.
Blending Old and New
Shabby chic is a new type of design that finds ways to blend old with new. It is a really difficult style to do well and it really takes a lot of courage to go for this bathroom style. It looks very good in French, Spanish, or Colonial style homes. It is the complete opposite of a modern bathroom. Usually, it incorporates designs such as painted furniture which has been lightly sanded on the corners and dented extensively. Countertops are commonly used, along with hanging mirrors and iron towel bars.
Modern and Sleek
A modern bathroom is all about using space to its maximum efficiency. Bathrooms that are completely fitted together, furniture that is custom made, and wall hung items of furniture such as medicine cabinets, toilet paper rolls, and cupboards. Chrome and stainless steel will be used extensively in this type of bathroom. Also, bright colors are often used and are sometimes introduced even as the fixtures themselves. It isn’t unusual to see a red toilet in a modern bathroom. So go wild, and let your colorful side out here.
