In many countries, access to reading materials and school books is something people don’t need to worry about- but there are those who struggle to get what they need, and if they can find them, they can’t afford them. Book banks are excellent initiatives that put unused books to good use- finding them new homes with the people who need them.

What Are Book Banks?

Book banks are community-driven projects that save reading materials from going to waste when they are no longer required. Whether they are fictional books or educational reads- most people have no further use for them after they have read them once. Rather than see out their days on a shelf, they can be donated or loaned to a book bank for someone else to access.

How do Book Banks Make a Difference?

Buying books is a luxury expense that is simply unfeasible for many people. Being unable to pay for reading materials can interfere with a person’s development and their education- but it is an unfortunate reality for some. Book banks are the solution here- providing free access to high-quality books and resources for whoever needs them.

What Makes Book Banks Such a Great Initiative?

The best thing about book banks is that they are powered and maintained by communities of people all doing their bit to help others- and it doesn’t have to cost a thing. Most people only read a book once and then find it taking up space. Donating or loaning it to a book bank gets it out the way and into the hands of someone who can benefit from it- so what’s not to love?
