Veterinarians at Sun Valley Regional Animal Hospital are part of a highly trained clinical staff that offers a wide range of veterinary services to patients in the Martinez community. The Martinez veterinarian team undergoes extensive training beyond the minimum requirements in order to ensure the implementation of a highly technical skill set that result in a higher level of care for patients. The clinic offers a wide variety of standard veterinary services, including internal medicine, orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, stem cell therapy and a blood donor program.
Important parts of your pet’s regular preventative healthcare regime include regular dental visits and internal medicine. Martinez veterinarians are dedicated to safeguarding your pet’s continued good health through regular dentals, which not only keep teeth and gums healthy but also help to prevent health complications that result from poor care of the teeth and gums. The clinic also implements internal medicine practices that focus on early detection and prevention. Care at this facility includes cutting edge diagnostic equipment complete with an on-site laboratory, digital radiography machine and ultrasound equipment. Surgical procedures for your pet may include treatments of the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, liver, kidney and urinary tract disorders, and treatments of the respiratory tract.
Martinez veterinarian specialists are on hand to perform emergency surgery as well as scheduled, planned procedures-which could include anything from a tooth extraction to spay/neuter procedures or hip replacements. Surgical procedures are preceded by a comprehensive physical exam, blood work, administration of anti-anxiety medication and installation of an intravenous catheter that will be used to administer medications and fluids. Occasionally, a pet must be hospitalized for treatment. Owners of hospitalized pets receive daily phone call updates and are permitted to spend quality time with their pets during designated visiting hours.
The Sun Valley Regional Animal Hospital supports a blood donor program for pets through this facility. Although there are veterinary blood banks available, emergency situations do arise in which a pet may need an immediate transfusion and cannot wait for blood to be ordered and shipped. For this reason, the blood donor program accepts healthy cats and dogs between 18 months and 8 years old that meet various health criteria. Both feline and canine donors must be in good health (no infections, illness or chronic medication use), and must be up to date on all vaccinations and flea/heartworm treatments. Only indoor cats weighing at least 10 lbs and dogs weighing at least 50 lbs are eligible to become donors. The Martinez veterinarians very much appreciate your pet’s contribution!
