So, you went out and had a few drinks, then things start to get a bit foggy. You remember a few bits and pieces here and there, but nothing substantial. The night goes on for a bit, then you get into a fight with some guys at a bar, now you are being arrested. This may sound like a far fetched story, but statistically speaking 52% of Americans will be arrested at some point in their life. This is reflected in the fact that America has a higher incarceration rate per one hundred thousand people than any other first world nation. OK, so, you have been arrested for getting into a bar fight, what now?

Call the Right Person

With cell phones almost completely replacing landlines many people do not memorize phone numbers anymore, but everyone should have at least one memorized as your contact in case you are arrest. Make sure whoever you choose to call is someone who is going to be reliable and prompt. They should also be someone who is organized and is going to be able to stay calm under pressure while they are working to get you out.

Tell Them What’s Going On

It is vital that whoever you call knows exactly what is going on. Be sure to tell them where you are as well as the charges and how much the bail is. You will not be getting out for a while if you forget to at least tell them where you are being held. Hopefully you have a stash of money for this exact situation hidden somewhere. If you do be sure to tell them about this as well so your contact isn’t having to put their own money up to get you out. If you do not, or if the bail is more than you have, then it may be time to look for bail bonds in San Bernardino County or your local area.

Wait it Out

Once you have called your contact all you can do is wait. Try to find something to keep you occupied, if you are lucky there may be others there as well that you can play poker with to pass the time, but at this point it is out of your hands.
