Are you seeking a Christian church to join? If so, it is a very important decision. After all, it is through this church that you are going to seek to grow or restore your faith. If you do not feel a connection to the people, the clergy, the mission and even the setting itself, it may become difficult for you to focus on your goals. Additionally, when you visit a Christian church, you get to meet the people with whom you are going to build community and find relationships that inspire you to continue to grow in your faith.

In other words, when you visit a church, it is a good way to determine if it is a good fit for your personal, spiritual goals and needs. And while it is easy to say that almost any Christian church can make a good home for someone eager to strengthen their faith or belong to a Christian community, you do need to consider key factors before making a choice.

After paying a visit, ask yourself:

  • Does that church have a set of values that it is upholding, following and strengthening?
  • If so, are they in line with yours? Do they focus on God’s intentions for each and the community? Are they dedicated to living like Christ and serving as his greatest disciples?
  • Do they focus on community?
  • Are there unique opportunities for you to enjoy and strengthen or build relationships? Life groups, service activities, membership activities, are but a few things you may want if you are eager to become a strong community member.
  • Are they modernized? This is more important than it seems because you may want to be connected in the “modern” way via apps, websites and more.

And during your visit, you will want to pay close attention to how visitors are treated. Are you recognized as a visitor? Do you receive a welcome and orientation to help you enjoy the service? What sort of fellowship occurs before and after?

You would not buy a home without visiting it and getting a feel for it. The same must be said of your church home – you cannot join it fully without giving it a visit and experiencing the people, the leadership, and whether or not you can flourish in that spiritual family.

If you are ready for a new or even a first-time Christian church in the Jacksonville area, you will enjoy a visit to Southpoint Community Church where you are greeted like a VIP and welcomed as a friend.
